About Us
The Quad Cities Autism Center (QCAC) has been supporting Quad Cities families with children diagnosed with autism since 2006. Our highly trained Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) and Board-Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) work with our children to help them gain skills in critical areas such as language, social skills, self-help, tolerating skills, and cooperation. This is done by first conducting an interview with parents and caregivers to learn about each child’s preferences, their strengths and challenges, and the goals they have for their child. Next, one of our BCBAs conducts a thorough assessment to choose appropriate and meaningful goals for the child as part of their Individualized Treatment Plan (ITP). These goals will build essential skills which, once learned, replace problem behavior, help the child gain access to new opportunities, and succeed in any learning environment.
Our Core Value
At the Quad Cities Autism Center, our core value has always been quality of services above quantity of children served. We invest up to 3 months of one-on-one, hands-on training for each of our RBTs. We provide regular follow up coaching and require every RBT to pass monthly skill-based competencies to ensure retention of skills. This investment in our staff fosters our commitment to excellence, promotes high job satisfaction, and ensures staff retention. Putting people first creates a culture of care that flows across all the work we do.
Our Space
The QCAC makes up just under 20,000 square feet of indoor space permitting therapists to match the comfort level of each of our learner as they move about the facility. Some children have difficulty being too close to other learners in a loud classroom while some thrive in a space shared with others. We are committed to helping all of our learners to become happy, relaxed, and engaged by being acutely aware of environmental factors that may impact their learning. Our spacious facility is comprised of three separate floors with multiple classrooms plus additional learning space which is specifically designed to match our learners’ interests, developmental levels, and program needs. On our first floor, we have two large playrooms each with a wide variety of toys and activities. On our second floor, we have two classrooms with divided space to accommodate multiple learners at a time and meet their individual needs, as well as a game room with arcade and video games, a mock medical exam room, and conference room used for parent training. On our third floor, we have a fully furnished “home” room for teaching daily living skills and our second parent training room. In addition, we have a secure outdoor playground area, a recreational gym, and a functional kitchen dedicated solely to our learner’s programs.
